Green Beans and Maters

It's been an awesome weekend for The Mission Garden.
TJ and Annesa along with Hayden and Kayla (representing the Runners EKG group) came by Saturday morning and picked the first few green beans from the garden. HUGE thanks to them for spending time out in the heat. They even picked a few weeds...okay, maybe more than a few!
Then Byron Baird and The Vestals (Scott and Lydia) represented the Jogger's EKG group and came to install 60 tomato cages. WOW! They worked hard and within a short time had all the tomatoes properly secured. As you can see in the picture above, it won't be long til we will be harvesting 'maters too.
Thanks so much to these two groups for coming out and helping make this a worthwhile investment in our community. If you would like to help, email us at missiongunter@yahoo.com

Spreadin' Dirt!

The Mission is spreadin' dirt and I don't mean the gossiping kind! This is the real deal, folks. Beautiful, sandy, rock-free dirt. The kind you really need for growing a plentiful community garden that will provide fresh vegetables for families in need.

What makes it so special is that the 9 city lots upon which the garden sits, the dirt($5000 worth), the labor and most of the equipment used to prepare the land was donated to The Mission. Can you believe it? We can. From the onset of this faith-based, non-profit organization, God's hand has been firmly guiding and invariably providing. To Him be all glory.

We would love for you to be a part of this exciting new adventure in helping others in our community and having fun along the way. If you, your family, or a group that you are a part of would like to "adopt-a-crop" in The Mission Field, please send us an email: missiongunter@yahoo.com
